Chow
I'm proud to say that with the eye of a true foodie, I discovered Chow when it was trying to be a PRINT magazine.  My brother Joe, also known as FBOFF (Foodie Brother of Friendly Foodie), and I read the first Chow magazine story about doing unique things with polenta.  One of the ideas was to make polenta "fries," which would serve "mostly as a vehicle for various melted cheeses."

I was hooked.  I loved these people already.  I bought gift subscriptions for no less than 10 people, just before Chow (the magazine) failed after its debut issue.  Sad times in America.  Gladly, this site has thrived with numerous recipes, blogs, features, and a sometimes debilitatingly awesome set of advice on the "Chowhound" message boards.  This is sort of like my homepage for life.   --K.

101 Cookbooks
I love this site, and it's got some great vegetarian, healthful meals.  Plus some amazing photography.  But, it can get a little "West Coasty" with it's ingredients.  I mean, seriously, who has coconut fat and wheat germ sitting in their pantry?  Still, I love it. --E.

Epicurious
Among other good things, an archive of Gourmet magazine, may she rest in peace. --K.

Smitten Kitchen
Sometimes I forget smitten kitchen exists, and it's like running into an old friend when I remember to visit it.  The photography is some of the best I've seen, and it's super easy to browse by season and ingredient. --E.

Orangette
Molly's writing is sometimes predictable but she's a real landmark in online food writing.  --K.

Tartelette
Ga-huh-orgeous photography of delicate sweets.  --K.

TasteSpotting
My best friend just told me about this one, and I've become a little obsessed. It's a collection of food blog pictures. It's beautiful, inspiring, distracting, overall kind of amazing.  Plus it links to a bunch of blogs I've never heard of, and it's fun to find out what other foodie types are doing.  --E.
